A few moments ago, Kyle Rayner was just a normal guy that hated his job. Now, he is standing in an alley, by himself. The little blue man that was there a moment ago was gone now. All that is going through Kyle's head is “Maybe I should switch to decaf.” After standing there a few more seconds of staring into space, he turns and leaves.

20 minutes later

“Hey, I'm home!”

Kyle takes a few steps into his studio apartment and goes to empty his pockets. He stops for a second and pulls out the ring. As he looks at it, his roommate, Martyn Van Wyck, walks out from the bathroom. He looks at Kyle with an amused look on his face.

“Eating Cracker Jacks at work again?”

Kyle looks up just as Martyn snags the ring from Kyle's hand.

“Hey, give it back!”

Kyle goes to take it back, but Martyn steps to the right, causing Kyle to fall flat on his face. Martyn laughs, then tries to put on the ring. As he tries getting the ring close to his middle finger, the ring stops moving. Martyn looks extremely puzzled.

“What the hell is with this ring? It's like it doesn't want to go on my finger."

He tries one last time, but the ring flies from his finger and right on to Kyle's. There is a bright flash, and Kyle, while still on the floor, is in the classic Green Lantern Corps uniform. Martyn's jaw drops open. Kyle looks just as shocked.

“What... what the fuck just happened?!”

Kyle goes to pull himself up, but some how he floats up. He begins thrashing in the air. Poor Kyle looks freaked out.

“Get me down from here!!!”

Martyn stands there frozen, his best friend since high school floating in the air because of some “Cracker Jack” ring. Kyle is still thrashing in the air, trying to get down. Martyn gets a look on his face like he has an idea.

“Kyle, you thought about getting up, right?”

“Ye...yeah. Why?”

“Think of getting down,” is all Martyn said.

Kyle gets a look of “Why the hell didn't I think of that” on his face. He closes his eyes and thinks. A moment later, Kyle falls and hits the floor, hard. He begins to kiss the floor.

“Ground, I will never take you for granted again.”

“Hey, fly boy, you still have a problem,” Martyn replied.

Kyle looks at Martyn and sees him pointing at Kyle's body. Kyle looks down and sees the suit still on him. Kyle shuts his eyes again, and there is another bright flash. The flash is so bright that Martyn has to shield his eyes with his arm. Both Kyle and Martyn look at Kyle at the same time. He is back in his street clothes.

“I wonder what else this ring can do,” said Kyle.

“I don't know, think of something Mr. Funny Pajamas Guy.”

Kyle smiles, and a moment later, the apartment is filled with constructs of women in bikinis. Marty grins and walks up to one. He looks back at Kyle.

“Are they real?”

“I don't think so,” is all Kyle can reply.

Marty looks heartbroken.

“...damn.”

Kyle is still smiling.

“I think I could get used to this.”

Martyn looks at Kyle and his face goes white. He starts pointing behind Kyle like there is something there. Kyle gives him the “What is wrong now?” look.

“Kyle...look behind you...”

“What? Why?”

Martyn stays quiet and just keeps pointing behind Kyle.

“Marty, it's not like...”

Kyle begins to turn around.

“...anyone is going to see...”

As Kyle gets turned around, he is face to face with his girlfriend, Alex De Witt, and she doesn't look happy. Her arms are crossed and she is tapping her right foot. Nothing is said for a few seconds, but Kyle can see her eyes shifting to look at the “women” in the apartment. All the color in Kyle's face flushes away as he is looking right into the eyes of his now extremely irate girlfriend.

“...this.”

“What the hell is going on in here?!”

“...hi Alex. I have something to tell you.” is all that a fearful Kyle can say as he looks into his very angry girlfriend's eyes.
My first ever attempt at fan fiction. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
